OGD - Nigeria's Ogun State Wonder Governor and Sentiment Peddlers

I, like most other citizens of Ogun State of Nigeria, am beginning to feel insulted by the antics of opposition politicians who have gone into the gutter and have now resolved to exploit the weapon of rumour and sentiments to smear the records of Otunba Gbenga Daniel, the Governor of our State.

They have resorted to telling so much lies that even those lies are beginning to sound insultive to the highly intelligent citizenry of Ogun State.

Amidst a broad agreement, even amongst opposition Politicians, that OGD has taken Public Administration to a hitherto unknown profitable level, it is surprising that anyone could come up to INSINUATE as they are now donig that the Governor has been stealing the resources of the State.

In addition to the numerous projects executed by the OGD's administration in all spheres of life like Roads, Electricity, Education, Agriculture, Employment Generation, name it, it is clear that no administration in Ogun State has, before now, employed half the number of workers - teachers, civil servants, e.t.c. - employed by the OGD's administartion. The administartion of Chief Olusegun Osoba (the last Governor) who is an ally of these rumour and sentiment peddlers put a freeze on employment and employment generation throughout his tenure without leaving a surplus in the coffers of the State, but, these latter-day Publicists had no voice then.

In spite of the massive employment and mind boggling projects executed by OGD, the State has not taken any loan under his administration and it is not indebted up to date to any of its employees. Reasonable individuals are beginning to ask how it is possible for a man to perform so well and so much without borrowing money and still PLUNDER the treasury of the State?

And, if in the opinion of these rumour peddlers and elendu reporters Chief Osoba who did not have the gift of OGD's beneficial foresight and who left nothing of substance in the treasury did not Plunder the treasury, why are they allowing the overawing performance of OGD to turn them into armchair let-us-pull-him-down-at-all-costs gutter critics?

What they do not know probably is that the man OGD has been a Nigerian success strory amongst his peers and above long before he ventured into Ogun State Governorship. What they counted as extraordinary mansions are nothing new to OGD as he has had many of such long before he became Governor, and; it will be ridiculous to say that a man in public office who can afford such things from his funds must not build houses to avoid these kind of mischevious campaing of Pull Him Down. He has ignored them so far to avoid distractions.

We have heard the rumour peddlers on what OGD is doing with our money but we are not blind. We thank them, afterall in our Ogun state, "asofofo o ni gba egbaa..." The question they need to answer to enable us evaluate them for the office of Governor which they all lust after is WHAT ARE THEIR PLANS FOR OGUN STATE IF EVER THEY BECOME ITS GOVERNOR?

Enough of the attacks on the man who has not only justified the confidence reposed in him with his performance but has also succeeded in getting Chief Awolowo's jewel of inestimable value to address him as "Awolowo's reicarnation" (Awolowo is the greatest and most respected poltical figure to emerge in this side of the World)

We have seen and assessed OGD but we need to assess these emerging armchair critics to put them in proper perspective. WHAT ARE THEIR PLANS FOR THE PEOPLE OF OGUN STATE?
